Session Fees https://rachelimschweiler.com/blog/2015/9/session-fees Thank you for your interest in booking a session with me!  If you have any questions, please feel free to ask!

All sessions come with a password protected online gallery.  From there you may share and download the high resolution images (free of charge), or order very affordable prints through the labs that I have partnered up with!  This is an added convenience for my clients.  All you have to do to share your gallery with your family and friends is provide them with the personal link and password that I provide for you!  In order to maintain the quality of the images from our session, I do not distribute print releases because it is very important to me that our images are not printed through one-hour  photo labs.  If you are interested in ordering specialty items, for example, holiday cards, canvases, etc, you may print from online labs that you are comfortable with.  However, you can buy prints and other specialty items directly through the gallery and this will be your best option for quality. These are higher level printers at their base level prices (meaning, as an added bonus for my clients I do not raise the prices to make a profit)! An example of their prices: 4x6s are $0.30, 5x7s are $1.00, 8x10s are $2.00. Not only are these printers affordable but they are much better quality than your local one-hour printer and they ship right to your door!

A 20% non-refundable retainer fee is due to book a session date.  As the session nears, I am always happy to move your date due to illness, weather, and other unforeseen circumstances at no additional fee!

Senior Sessions: What to wear and expect https://rachelimschweiler.com/blog/2013/5/senior-sessions-what-to-wear-and-expect Hello!  I’ve written this blog because I wanted to address some common questions and give you an idea of what goes into these sessions!

What to wear:

For senior sessions I always recommend layering, fabrics with textures, accessories (think belts, jewelry, hats, scarves, boots, unique shoes, etc) and don’t be afraid of print!  They really add dimension to the photos.  You just want to be yourself, feel great, and wear something that makes you feel comfortable.  Try to avoid bright, florescent colors on top because they tend to reflect and cause unflattering shadows on the face.

If you have different styles on different days then bring a few outfits that best represent you.  For example, you can bring something soft and romantic, then something a little edgier.

We’ll work these to match our different locations.  You may bring as many outfit changes as you'd like, bring extras if you want me to help you decide once we are on location.  You just want to be yourself, feel great, and wear something that makes you feel comfortable.  If you have a hobby that you'd like to work into your shoot or a team/band uniform bring that along as well!

What to expect from your senior shoot:

If you have booked an hour session you can expect 15-20 edited images (based on how the session goes) and with a two hour session you can expect 30-40.  These images will be uploaded to a password protected online gallery for you to view, download, and print directly from!

I try to make sessions as laid back and fun as possible.  It’s all about capturing you as you truly are.

Please feel free to bring props to your session.  I am always happy to work anything into your photos that may be important to you and reflects who you are.

I will happily choose our locations for your senior shoot, however, I always encourage unique and private locations if they are available!  It truly makes your senior session one of a kind and more personalized!

Note to Parents:

Before scheduling a senior session, please be sure that your senior is truly interested.  I’ve had several sessions in the past where the senior just truly was not interested in having their photos taken and it makes for an uncomfortable experience for everyone involved.  I know you, as their parent, want these photos as a keepsake but in this situation you may be better off taking them to a studio just for a few headshots, rather than dragging them to an on location, hour long shoot.

That being said, I hope that your senior IS into this!  I truly love capturing these young adults in such an important time in their lives!

I know this is a very sensitive time in a teen’s life and there may be self-esteem issues at hand.   If your son or daughter is having issues with their complexion, tell them not to fret!  Basic touch ups are included with all senior packages!  If a severe case of acne is present there may be a small additional fee for removal, since this takes quite a bit more time in the editing process.  If you think this may be an issue please let me know!  As far as body issues, make sure your child is comfortable in the clothes they choose so that they look comfortable in their photos.  I will pose them in the most flattering and tasteful way possible.  I want them to feel beautiful and confident.  If they have a pose/ poses that they want to try I’m always up for something new!

One last thing.  I know this is a very emotional time for you, witnessing a huge stepping stone in your child’s life, and I want you to be a part of this shoot.  While of course you are welcome to join us and be there for moral support, please remember to keep everything positive and upbeat.  We want this to be a fun and laid back experience!  The more natural your son or daughter acts, the more confident and wonderful they will look!

Thank you very much for taking the time to read through this blog, I hope it answered any questions you may have had!  I truly love what I do, I hope it shows in my images, and I look forward to our shoot!  I hope you are as excited as I am!

Newborn Sessions: What to wear and expect https://rachelimschweiler.com/blog/2013/5/newborn-sessions-what-to-wear-and-expect Hello!  I’ve written this blog because I wanted to address some common questions and give you an idea of what goes into these sessions!

What to wear:

For all of my sessions I always recommend coordinating outfits rather than matching, it adds depth to the photos.  Fabric textures and layering are also recommended (if it’s your style).  You just want to be yourself, feel great, and wear something that makes you feel comfortable.  Try to avoid bright, florescent colors on top because they tend to reflect and cause unflattering shadows on the face.  Be especially careful with babies about what type of materials you are dressing them (and yourself) in.  There are some super cute outfits out there, but if they irritate the baby's skin at all, we will have an unhappy baby on our hands.

When it comes to my photo sessions, I always try to work with the motto "less is more."  We don't want to pull the focus from the main subject of the session, the baby!  If at all possible, naked baby photos are always natural and beautiful.  I will have wraps and blankets with me to cover your baby, but you are more than welcome to bring along anything that you'd like to use as well!

For babies it’s best to keep it simple.  Babies’ clothes never tend to fit quite right so go for something snug fitting (cute onesies/ sweatsuits) or opt for naked photos (if the weather allows).  You don’t want anything that will ride up and cover the baby’s face or make them uncomfortable.

Here are some tips to prepare your baby for a happy session.  If we are doing the session in your home, please have the baby either dressed in his/her first outfit, or if you are planning on using wraps, have the baby undressed and wrapped in a blanket and feed right before the session starts so that they are nice and sleepy. If we are doing them outdoors or in my studio, please be prepared to feed when the session starts.  We can get the baby into its first outfit/ wrap and then you can feed.  This usually helps get the session off to a good start!

If you need to take a break at all during the session to feed or change your baby that is not a problem!  That is why I've made the newborn sessions a bit longer than a typical session, because our tiny ones need extra time and attention.  You may also bring outfit changes, as many as you can fit into the session time is fine with me, but keep in mind that babies don't always love being changed so it all depends on how they are during their session.  If your baby has older siblings, you may bring them along to work into a few images!  It's always sweet to see how these little ones interact with each other!

Please feel free to bring props to your session.  I am always happy to work anything into your photos that may be important to your family.  Anything with your baby's name on it or any objects that personalize your shoot are always welcomed and encouraged!  I will have different baskets and blankets to use but if you have any that you would like to use, again, bring them along!

I try to make sessions as laid back and comfortable as possible.  Please don't be afraid to snuggle and be affectionate with your newest addition.

What to expect from your newborn shoot:

With your session you can expect 10-20 edited images (based on how the session goes).  These images will be uploaded to a password protected online gallery for you to view, download full resolution images, and print directly from!

What to wear:

For all of my sessions I always recommend coordinating outfits rather than matching, it adds depth to the photos.  If you have a favorite shirt, dress, etc that NEEDS to be in the session, use that as your basic color pallet and build from there.  Textures and layering are also recommended (if it’s your style).  You just want to be yourself, feel great, and wear something that makes you feel comfortable.  Try to avoid bright, florescent colors on top because they tend to reflect and cause unflattering shadows on the face.  For maternity sessions in particular I recommend tops that hug your belly, the star of the show!

Please feel free to bring props to your session.  I am always happy to work anything into your photos that may be important to your family.  Anything with your baby's name on it, little shoes, any objects that personalize your shoot are always welcomed and encouraged!

What to expect from your maternity shoot:

If you have booked a half hour session you can expect 10-15 edited images (based on how the session goes) and with an hour session you can expect 20-30.  These images will be uploaded to a password protected online gallery for you to view, download, and print directly from!

I try to make sessions as laid back and comfortable as possible.  If you are bringing your significant other to your shoot, please don't be afraid to snuggle and be affectionate.  It's just us in a very relaxed setting, no need to feel embarrassed!  I want your love to radiate through your images, I want you to feel goosebumps in 20 years when you look back on these images!

I try to make sessions as laid back and fun as possible.  It’s all about capturing the spirit of you and your fiancee, as you truly are.  If you are shy or self conscious, don't be afraid to step away from "posing" and just be yourselves!  I will be behind the camera snapping away and sometimes these turn out to be the most beautiful photos!  Please feel free to bring anything to your shoot that may is special to the two of you as a couple.  I always do some "traditional" engagement shots but I want this session to reflect your unique love.

Also, be sure to clean your ring before our shoot because I will be doing several detail shots of it!

Please don't be afraid to snuggle and be affectionate during our shoot.  It's just the three of us in a very laid back setting, no need to feel embarrassed!  I want your love to radiate through your images, I want you to feel goosebumps in 20 years when you look back on these images!

I try to make sessions as laid back and as fun as possible.  It’s all about capturing the spirit of you and your family, as you truly are.  Sometimes children don’t want to sit pretty and have their photo taken, so please don’t be afraid to just play and cuddle.  Just be yourselves!  I will be behind the camera snapping away and sometimes these turn out to be the most beautiful photos!

I will have benches, blankets, baskets, etc for these sessions but anything else that you’d like to work into the photos please bring along.  If your child has a favorite toy, book, game or activity, don’t hesitate to bring it!  If you’re afraid it will distract them from the session then maybe wait until half way through to bring it out.

I LOVE doing smash cake photos for first birthdays!  They are so much fun!  We always save them until the very end in case things get super messy!  Please bring along paper towels and/ or wipes to clean up your little one after the session.

Balloons are also a wonderful prop for birthdays.  Bubbles are a fun way to get your toddler moving and laughing!

Please make sure your children (especially babies) are well fed and rested.  If you need to bring a snack or lollipop to bribe with during our session feel free!  You may also bring outfit changes, as many as you can fit into the session time is fine with me.
